The Rakvere youth have really changed 180 degrees since last year. Almost every non-christian youth was invited from one of the Christian youth. They are really understanding what it means to take time and invest into their friends. They are gaining more and more boldness in their faith even though they face many trials at home and also in school. Some of the youth wanted their non-chrisitan friends to come so bad, that they found ways to make money so they could pay for their friend to come. When the Christian youth are on mission, look out. God is going to do big things because the heart of the youth are in the right place. With hearing all of these stories, it speaks volumes of how amazing the leadership is. They are really growing in maturity and creating a ministry built around love. This is something that is so needed in Rakvere.
This camp brought many different challenges for our team through out the week, but God was faithful. We had a great intern team that helped out so much with the little details and making sure everything was ready. Even when things were not quite where we wanted them, they became innovative and made it work. I am so proud of our interns and how they have grown and matured over the summer. Also, I am very proud of Liina who has changed so much between the two english camps that she helped me out with this summer. I know that camps had a huge impact on her. Also, God used His story to change so many of the students lives. We had one student accept Christ, and there are so many more students who are so close. They just need some time to process. We are all waiting anxiously for the stories that will come over the next few months.
Overall, this was one of the hardest camps of the summer because of the heaviness of the students stories. Liina and I have not heard so many heart-breaking stories. We know why the Rakvere team is so loving and gentle. These students just need a tremendous amount of love to just get through the week or even through a day. Many students feel abandoned by their parents, or their parents are just abusive drunks. They have hardships not just at home, but school can be a not so pleasant place either. Many of the students who are so close to knowing Christ, hesitate because they know there will be a cost with this decision. Many students know that their is a good possibility they may lose their friends if they make the decision to follow Christ. Also, many parents are against their kids getting involved with Christianity. This has caused many conflicts amongst families. With all of these different problems and conflicts, we have to just continue to pray and trust that God is in control. He knows what the students are going through and he can change their situations. For now we can continue to pray for the Rakvere youth team, that they will be continually filled with love that will over-flow on and into the students that they are pouring their lives into.
It was an honor for our team to do this camp. Thanks Efka for letting us help you reach your city for Christ.
